JACK.FM
Is it just me, or does anyone else have some sort of internal radio? You know, so you can be sitting at work and find that some song is going through your head? Or if you consciously think about it, you can change the internal playlist to play some other song that you know well instead? Or is that just me?
Of course, if it is just me, I can probably expect to shortly be hearing some questions ranging from “so you hear voices in your head, then?” and “do these voices ever tell you to do things?” all the way up to “…and what did you do with the bodies?”
I don’t think it’s just me though, and for your delight and delectation, I include some of the song lyrics that have been played on JACK.FM this week: see if you recognise any of ‘em. Remember, it’s not a competition, it’s only a bit of fun, so there’s no point cheating: just let me know if you recognised any…(although unless you like 80s/90s rock/metal/goth, you’re probably out of luck)
- You turn around, two eyes break you down now who does that guy think he’s staring at
- ‘cos I’ve got something I’ve been building up inside, for so fuckin’ long
- Cost of the blood on the driven snow and the lipstick on my cigarettes
- A tout le monde; a vous mes amis; je vous aime; je dois partir
- In whose sight are we equal now? In whose sight are we equal now? In whose sight are we equal now? Now that we’ve killed God
- Murder Murder Murder Murder Murder Murder Murder Murder Murder Murder
- Dum-dum bullets and shoot to kill, I hear “Dive, bombers”, and Empire down
- Old, twisted and white, dead crow on a fence is your style
- Just a fading fucking reminder of who I used to be, come on tell me
- You’d think that I could muster up a little soft shoe gentle sway, but I don’t feel like dancin’, No sir, no dancin’ today
Sorry? Number six? Well what’s funny about it, then? Isn’t that how Deep Purple’s “Black Night” sounds to you?

Luckily you’re way beyond the average age of schizophrenia onset, although I was distressed when you started to think you could tell the future (something about weather, as I recall); but internal radio playlists ?? The lyrics are all a bit dark and scary too, aren’t they ?
Unless of course you’re able to stream it over the Internet? You might be onto a winner there!

I have internal radio too sometimes. I could only spot two of the songs:
3. “Nine while nine” by The Sisters of Mercy
7. “Lucretia my reflection” by The Sisters of Mercy

Are numbers 2 and 8 Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton?

6. What is this, some old Agent Orange, D.O.A. or something?
10. Scissor Sisters – I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’
I’m usually good with lyrics, but I can’t get the rest of them.

Okay then, we have:
1. The Man With The Dogs (Dead Kennedys).
2. Well Steve, you were close. Surprised no one got this one: Out ta Get Me (Guns N’ Roses)
3. 1 point to Roger.
4. Tout Le Monde (Megadeth). One of two I’ve already picked out for my funeral (hopefully not in the near future!)
5. Drag It Down (New Model Army)
6. A joke: it was just a joke…
7. Another point to Roger…
8. Hellbelly (Therapy?)
9. something i can never have (Nine Inch Nails)
10. point to Marco…
