What colour do you want yer bridge, mister?
It’s not often you get the option to vote to change the colour of a public landmark, particularly a public landmark that ought to qualify as artitecture: as in it’s a cross between a piece of architecture and an artwork.
I refer of course to the Gateshead Millenium Bridge, which is to be lit up by a light display comprising of colours chosen by members of the public between the 18th and 27th of December.
So if you’re local (or for that matter, if you’re not local — it doesn’t seem to be restricted to residents) and you’d like the Gateshead Millenium Bridge to be a particular colour, get along there and choose your Millenium Bridge colour. And then they’ll ask you why you want that colour.
As I put it, having voted green:
I could have said that I’d chosen green because it represents the importance of the environment; I could have said that it was to reflect the fact that it uses a minimum of electricity when opening, but basically it’s just because I like the colour and think it would look niceRough approximation of my reason
Obviously, if you’re going to vote, think up your own reason, you’re not pinching mine… (but feel free to vote for green!)
