Pickards to the power 9
I just noticed the other day that according to my Wordpress stats, I’d written 512 posts, or 29 posts.
Now that’s not entirely accurate, as I was blogging with Blogger prior to Wordpress, and I didn’t copy all of my posts over, but just taking that as a marker, that means that since my first Wordpress post backdated to December 2005 (since I didn’t move from Blogger until 2006), I’ve produced (prior to this one), 512 actual posts (not ‘count number’) on Wordpress. In a period of 809 days.
That’s really not bad. That means I’m averaging 0.63 of a blog entry per day, or conversely I’m posting a blog entry on average every 1.58 days. Beat that, suckas.
Of course, I’m conveniently ignoring that most of them consist of meaningless gubbins like that, but that’s hardly the point… at least it’s original meaningless gubbins and not some kind of splog.
Obviously, people who have been blogging for longer than me have a bit of an advantage: Roger’s Archive shows that he has been blogging since March 2003, when he announced to an unsuspecting world that:
After spending a long time debating with myself whether I should put some time and energy into creating and maintaining a personal web site, I have finally decided to go ahead and do it. Yay!
…Most of the time I’ll probably be linking to stuff I read elsewhere. Occasionally I may even write something of my own
Well Roger, I’m pleased you did. Just coming up to your fifth anniversary now, eh? And I think your own content has proved its worth over the years, too.
And of course in that time he’s managed to rack up a total of 1,417 posts at an average of 0.78 posts per day, so I can’t afford to put down my keyboard just yet if I want to catch him … although he’s trying to give us a chance, as he’s only been averaging 0.45 per day since the start of 2006.

I can’t even come close to matching your rate

I can’t beat that either. Textpattern tells me I have written 409 posts since 9th June 2006, but I noticed that some have mysteriously been deleted and others are marked as ‘pending’ – posts started then abandoned. So it’s probably 350 max.
Keep it up and you’ll be celebrating your 1000th post in no time.

How do you find the time to do any work?

@Rob – work isn’t a problem. I just cut down on non-essentials, like sleep.
