That I have a popular picture on my site.

Imagine also that this picture is in the public domain and that the posts I have which use it say so. Imagine that I’ve also gone to the trouble of explaining where you can get a better version of that picture than the one I’ve used. Imagine also that I ask nicely for people to take their own copy of the image, and not to use my bandwidth.

Imagine that I then find, despite the fact that I’ve gone to this trouble, that some people can’t be bothered (even when they are being hosted by a free blogging-type domain) to take their own copy of the image, and would rather hotlink directly to my image and benefit their blog at my expense.

These people should then not be too surprised if I decide to change the image somewhat. You too could have your blog looking like this… (although you may not wish to read on if you are offended by pictures of badly-drawn genitalia)
