Well, my first contribution to Wikipedia has been made. Of course by now it will have probably been edited out of existence, but it was a genuine factual update to the page about Ankh-Morpork (the city-state featured in most of Terry Pratchett’s discworld novels), and it said:
Several streets in a new housing development in Wincanton have been named after Ankh-Morpork Streets, including Peach Pie Street and Treacle Mine Way[5].
Not that actually contributing to Wikipedia should be seen as a massive thing: I’m sure it has millions of editors and contributors, it’s just that it’s the first time I’ve done it, so it’s noteworthy to me. Plus it covers books (Terry Pratchett), news and current affairs (reported on BBC News), the bizarreness of it all (Wincanton is actually twinned with Ankh-Morpork, seemingly ignoring the fact that the latter is fictional), and the general geekiness (updating Wikipedia) of it. Ticks all my boxes, anyway.
[And also the 'whoops' one. It was actually Treacle Mine Road, which has been corrected on Wikipedia..]

The whole twinning thing really made me laugh. The Wincanton Town Council website states that ‘On 7th December 2002 Wincanton was twinned with a place that doesn’t exist - Ankh Morpork’ - so they’re not seemingly ignoring the fact it’s fictional, they’re stating it matter of factly like it’s nothing out of the ordinary. Which just makes it even more bizarre for me…
