Monday, December 15, 2008 0:37 1 CommentI have been prompted by someone to republish some articles I previously wrote about WCAG 2.0. Well, I’m not going to do this, on the basis that I’ve not ‘un-published’ them, so you can still find them via my site search or via google.
However, for those of who who want a little potted history of [...]

Friday, December 12, 2008 0:59 3 CommentsThis is a continuance of the previous piece looking at BS 8878, “Web accessibility — Building accessible experiences for disabled people — Code of Practice”.
Problems
The ‘Accessibility Policy’ section demonstrates that for all the “we can’t be using WCAG 2.0, as it’s not ready”, it appears that this document is not ready itself. We’re asked to [...]

It’s important to note that it is not necessarily the final version: it has now [...]
Accessibility: Auditing, Consultancy & Training
Tuesday, December 2, 2008 20:00 No CommentsOne of the things I am going to be doing, under the auspices of my new job, is getting a little more involved with some of the accessibility goings on.
In what is therefore a shameful piece of self-promotion, I’d just like to say that if you or your organisation/company want your site to be [...]

Now before reading what the document has to say, I’ve read Bruce’s opinion on it.
the central premise of the draft guidelines is fundamentally flawed.Bruce Lawson: UK government draft browser guidance is daft browser guidance

Target Acquired: Four Cheers!
Saturday, August 30, 2008 0:30 1 Comment(as spotted on SeƱor Lawson’s blog)
It appears that the NFB have reached a settlement with Target.com in their contention that Target’s website was inaccessible to disabled people and in breach of some law or other…
This tends to polarise opinion; you get one camp who don’t feel that the free market should be forced to choose [...]

Well, that’s nice, I thought. The BBC have finally worked out how everyone else has been using the internet since 1995. You know, when you find some relevant [...]
iTea and Biscuits
Tuesday, August 12, 2008 18:58 No CommentsYes, it’s soon to be silver surfer week which is all about championing digital equality and inclusion for older people. They are even offering some free computing books. The whole ‘iTea and Biscuits’ thing is their idea as an alternative name for the Silver Surfer week, and I have to say I like it.
For [...]
